The Glencoe Fire Department started in 1895 as a volunteer department. It remains a volunteer organization with three engine companies made up of forty firefighters responding to over 130 calls a year. The department is proud of its high level of service and maintains an ISO rating of 3. The fire station, completed in 1967, is located at 509 10th St. E. Hanging prominently from the front of the Fire Station is the 400 lb. bronze bell used at the fire station in the late eighteen-hundreds.

In October, during Fire Prevention Week, firefighters are at schools and elderly housing units teaching young and old about the hazards of fire.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer firefighter, please pick up an application from the City, fill it out and return it. What a great way to serve your community.

The department is available for questions you have as a home or business owner. Contact us at (320) 864-4310 for any non-emergency issues.

Please remember!

Have fire detectors on every floor and test them monthly.

Make sure everyone knows the location of and how to use your fire extinguisher.

Plan escape routes and have practice fire drills.
